Cute, Dede.

When an unwanted and unsolicited pop-up window is displayed, often times clicking the little box in the upper right hand corner is the same as clicking on the window - it registers that you have clicked on the window. I always use this to close all such windows.

Quit a program                     ALT + F4

I really had no idea there were so many short cuts.

When you click on "Start--Programs" and the window pops up with the list of programs, right-click on the window and select the "Sort by Name" option.

This list is a little overwhelming.  I certainly can't remember them all.   Here are my most used ones:

----------------------

Close an application   ALT+ F4
Cycle through open applications    ALT + Tab, Tab, Tab...
Copy a file                        CTRL + drag the file
Move to item in list box starting with X     X  (repeat X to scroll through all that start with X) (X can be any letter or number)
Select or de-select items in a check box or list box    SPACE BAR

Cut selected item                  CTRL + X
Copy selected item                 CTRL + C
Paste copied or cut item           CTRL + V
Delete an item (to Recycle Bin)    DEL
Undo                               CTRL + Z
Select all                         CTRL + A

Refresh      F5

Office applications:
Bold         select, then CTRL + B
Italic        select, then CRTL + I
Underline select, then CTRL + U
Save        CTRL + S
