Hello guys!

Your all probably on vacations now, but i have this thing in my mind for a long time...

Is there a service for embroidery on pvc vinyl? I'm thinking of making customizable headboards with designs drawn on autocad.

Hey George,
You're a long way from Nebraska but there is a local shop that does this. Pretty interesting to watch the sewing machine do it's tricks. If we have the service here I'm sure you can find somebody closer to you. It's out there. The specialty with the local business is sports and work wear. School logos and such on caps, polo and tee shirts, etc. The guy here made a very nice (large) design/picture on a jacket for our fire department.
  Good luck, Buck

i had a clouth  embroidery don for a car seat  and asked about vinyal and  he would not do vinyal as the  needle  would cut the vinyal  so easley.  i have  seen  the  embroidery in leather and  in time it would  come apart  around the edges .i am sure the vinyal would be a hard to do  and  not last .

I have a local embroidery shop here in VA and have had no problems with client requests when they want embroidery done. With the backer materials they now use they can sew on leather and vinyl with no problems.

Do I understand correctly that when they embroider on vinyl that they put some type of backing material under the vinyl before they embroider it?

Yes Stephen whenever embroidery is done there is a backing of some sort. It helps hold it all together. I am now privy to what backing is used for vinyl.

when you have a needle punching so close together a backing willnot help the  vinyl front  . it will  cause leather to separate  in time at  the edges of the  embroidery .

Well,

Maybe the word embroidery is not the correct term, i was thinking more about single line decorative stiching with foam backed vinyl, for example the words King & Queen left and right on the front panel of the headboard? Cheesy

Regards,

George.

Well..  that would be fine, except a fine line of stitching would really get lost on a headboard, I would think...    Huh
